Isobel Hamilton, age 18, RYA Volvo RS:X National Youth Squad Windsufer
Izzy Hamilton was the highest performing British RYA Youth Class’s sailor in 2010 by a significant margin.
The 18-year-old has continued her World class success from 2009. This year she picked up a third Youth National title in April earning herself a third place on the RYA Volvo Team GBR squad, the multi class GBR team selected to compete at youth sailing’s pinnacle regatta – the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships. In July she gained a silver medal at the RS:X European Youth Championships followed by silver at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships. In August she competed against the World’s best senior RS:X Olympic windsurfers at just 17 finishing in the top 10 at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth just six places behind Britain’s top 2012 prospect, Beijing 2008 GBR bronze medallist, Bryony Shaw.
In November she successfully defended her RS:X Youth World title in Cyprus becoming Britain’s first ever double windsurfing Youth World Champion racking up a huge 16 point lead ahead of the pack.
