- Resolution: Senior Membership. Proposal by Sue Terpilowski; seconded by Amanda Fisher, to formalise the definition of Senior members within the YJA. Currently, Members over 65 years of age are entitled to claim the reduced subscription when their age added to the number of years they have been a member equals at least 80. The annual fee for senior members is £30. Resolution to formalise Senior membership: “Senior membership is open to anyone who is/has been a member who has reached the UK State Pension Age.”
- Resolution: Proposal to change the Yachtsman of the Year Award to Sailor of the Year. Proposed by Mark Jardine and seconded by Nicholas Jeffery. The proposal is: “My proposal is that the title awarded for the YJA Yachtsman of the Year trophy should be changed to ‘YJA Sailor of the Year’ from ‘YJA Yachtsman of the Year’.
I submit this proposal as I believe Sailor is a more representative word. Many of our nominees and winners aren’t ‘Yachtsmen’ per se, as dinghies, kites, windsurfers, wing foils, other foilers and powerboats are all part of the YJA’s remit.
This will also bring the title in-line with the YJA Young Sailor of the Year.
I do not propose the YJA Yachtsman of the Year trophy is changed in any way, just the title awarded to the winner.” - AOB
If you would like to nominate members to any office or membership of the committee or would like to submit a counter-proposal to the two resolutions for discussion (Senior Members and Yachtsman of the Year) please make that submission to the Chair Katy Stickland in writing by 23:59 on 12 June 2026. You need a proposer and seconder (both need to be current YJA members). The email address for Katy Stickland is chair@yja.world
Amendments to published resolutions may be proposed from the floor of the meeting.
