Members of the Yachting Journalists’ Association (YJA) are being invited to vote in the 2025 YJA Young Journalist of the Year Award.
The five nominees on the shortlist reflect the diversity within marine media, and their submissions include written articles, photography and video content.
The award was launched by the YJA in 2021 to encourage aspiring journalists to start a career in the marine sector. It has since been expanded and is now open to anyone aged 30 or under who wants to work or who already works within the industry.
The shortlisted nominees for the 2025 award are:
- Annie Means
- Lydia Mullan
- Loreto Rodriguez
- Freya Terry
- Jazz Turner
These young journalists have demonstrated skill and creativity in telling either their own stories or reporting on the wider sailing community.
YJA members now have the opportunity to vote for the young journalist who they believe has made the most significant contribution to the field in 2025.
The voting process is simple. To view the submissions and cast your vote, please visit the YJA website here. Voting will remain open until 23:59 on Monday, 20th October, and the winner will be announced next month.
YJA Chair Katy Stickland “Showcasing writers, photographers and videographers who are just starting in their journalism career is vital for fostering and nurturing the yachting journalists of the future. We had a high standard of entries this year, and choosing the shortlist was tough, but those who have made the final all demonstrated skill in their craft.”
The YJA Young Journalist of the Year Award 2025 is supported by Henri-Lloyd and Future PLC, the publishers of Yachting Monthly, Yachting World, Practical Boat Owner and Motor Boat and Yachting.
