Journalists, bloggers, vloggers, videographers and photographers are being invited to submit their entries for the Yachting Journalists’ Association (YJA)’s Young Journalist of the Year 2025.
The award is aimed at recognising and celebrating the outstanding contributions of young journalists in the field of yachting and marine journalism. It is open to individuals aged 30 and under as of 31 December 2025.
Entries, which can be written or visual content, including videos and photographs, must be submitted by 23:39 on September 19, 2025. All entries need to be submitted via the YJA website at: https://yja.world/yja-young-journalist-of-the-year-2025/ or form below
The winner of the award will be announced in November 2025.
Last year’s Young Journalist of the Year Award saw record entries being submitted. The winner, chosen by YJA members, was announced as Kaia Bint-Savage for her video about The Maiden Factor.
“When I started telling the story of the Maiden crew, I just wanted to do the amazing crew justice. It was a powerful, inspiring story, and I felt, and still feel, lucky to have been part of it. I never expected it to lead to something like winning the YJA Young Journalist of the Year in 2024, and felt honoured,” said Kaia.
“Since then, the support I’ve had from the YJA Committee has been so valuable. They’ve been generous with their time, encouragement, and I’ve had opportunities to take part in fantastic events and meet wonderful people. If you’re passionate about storytelling, you’ll be in good company!”
YJA Chairman Katy Stickland commented, “This award is a great opportunity for those who want to work or are already working in our industry, and I encourage all eligible young journalists to participate and submit their best work for consideration. The YJA Young Journalist Award 2025 not only offers a platform to showcase emerging talent but also fosters the growth and recognition of the next generation of yachting journalists.”

Rules: You must be under 30 years of age. Any form of media content about or 
involving sailing, and water sports or the marine industry is acceptable as an entry, but must have been produced within the last 12 months up to the contest closing date of 23:59 BST on September 19, 2025.
